Snow, New Members and Some Cards, of course....

The weather forecast was right - we got a lot of snow overnight and I can feel  my muscles after all the shoveling I did - what a great workout! I actually like shoveling snow - I know its weird. and this is how it looked like this morning:

A winter wonder land! Isn't it gorgeous? Except for the all of a sudden low dangling electrical wires....

And now a welcome for my new members:

Anja (hauiline)

Go and checkout their blogs - they are fabulous!

As my welcome gift to you - I made a cake, which I would love to share with you, but since that is impossible I'll share the recipe. I made this cake quite often - everybody in my family loves it, even my husband who gets very picky, when it comes to sweet things. And the best thing about this cake is that it gets better as it gets older, usually its the other way around. So in case you'll give it a try, bake it at least one day beforehand, to let the flavors develop.

Cardamom Vanilla Pound Cake

cream:
2 1/4 sticks unsalted softened butter
with
1 3/4 cups granulated sugar
add one by one
4 large eggs
and
1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice and 1 T vanilla extract
Mix in
3 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon ground cardamom
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup whole milk,
alternating dry ingredients with the milk

Spoon batter into buttered and floured bundt pan; bake at 350°F for about 1 hour
Cool in pan 1 hour, then invert onto a rack and cool completely, about 1 hour more.
You may dust the cake before serving with confectioners’ sugar if you want.

This recipe is from epicurious – only slightly altered.

Are you still with me? Here are those cards I promised:

I tried myself on the technique so fabulously explained by JJ Bolton on the C&S 1st bonus day class. Everybody probably know her, if not, I linked her name to her blog. I fiddled around with that technique, which is really not that difficult to do, but it is time consuming. I cut the triangle shapes with my Big Shot and Lifestyle Crafts diamond shaped dies. I am not so happy with the first card. Probably should not have cut the corners on the upper right, but it is, what it is. It improved a bit with adding Stickles to the hearts. I am entering this card in the "Love Theme" VSC #8 Challenge.

With the second card I gave up on the spacing, just taped the die cut together with Scotts tape and trimmed it to a conical shape. I like the second card better. I am entering this card into the die cut divas untraditional Valentine's card challenge.

The sentiments are Hero Arts Hugs N Hearts (Cl301), Hero Arts Spring Borders (Cl128).

Have a great weekend and enjoy the snow - if you have any!
Thanks you all for those lovely comments you keep leaving on my blog - they are all very much appreciated!

Sigi

You're right, this technique did look like it was quite time consuming but I love the results you achieved with those nice funky colours! Thank you for visiting my blog the other day!

Hallo...

Hi Everyone, I made a bunch of Easter cards, after all its little more than one month and I need to send them out in time... You see, they are all similar - using both the die cut and the negative, that I cut from a die cut egg. The cute bunnies got their yearly appearance - they are from Impression Obsession. the egg is by Lifestyle Crafts. The sentiment is by Papertrey. And here are bigger photos from this set: Linking up with Creative with Stamps - Easter The Paper Players - die cutting Die Cut Divas - animals Happy Little Stampers - anything goes with dies

Dynamic Duos combined with CAS Colours and Sketches

I am getting the hang of combining challenges....not sure if that's good or bad... In the past I would just put all my "creative energy" into one challenge and then just link up with others, if the card just happened to fit...but now I do that on purpose. Well, I'll see how it goes....                           Anyhow here is the card that came out of this: I did not want to add a sentiment - I 'll add it later, when I know who will get it. And here is a close -up: Challenges: Dynamic Duos CAS Colours and Sketches Addicted to Stamps and More Amusing Challenges Materials: Papertrey Background Basics: Super Stripes, Memory Box Chloe Stem die. --X-- Card for Maddy: You may know already about  Maddy ,  who  was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia and went through chemotherapy treatment followed by a stem cell transplant from her (then) fifteen year old sister Melanie.  She now has a relapse and this car
